alphabar can now link to 26 pages showing just terms beginning with each letter
improve themability of items on the overview page
added blocks for each vocabulary with vocab name and description (by gerhard)
i'm halfway through adding a block for searching the tern names and descriptions in the glossary. i have to commit now before i get pulled away. sorry for the commented out code.

(Frodo) Fix escaping of special characters in generated links
We still used drupal_specialchars, which was removed recently. Actually,
escaping is now done within the l() call, so we do not need to do it at all.
We just call check_plain for acronym links, as that is the only place we
generate HTML directly.

i'm having some cvs difficulties. if this breaks the module, i sincerely apologize.
CHANGELOG
- added edit and add links to the glossary overview page for quick maintainence of terms
- added alphabet bar across top of overview page for quick navigation.
- the 'complete' link form of showing matches has been enhanced and the name has changed (requires re-savign of your admin page). we now use the HTML <acronym> tag for its intended purpose.
- trying to strip al tags out of the popups but the <br /> tag is stubborn in my experience. still outstanding
- added support for linking to the glossary terms from those search results produced by trip_search.module

Various fixes:
- use proper linking in help texts, as in code
- add some code to the filter function to inject the required CSS
to the HTML header at the first time the filter runs
- provide a clue on the enabled glossary module on the filter settings

a lot of optimizations:
- only run the synonym query once on a page, and not once
per string per term
- use pass-by-reference to reduce memory usage, and only
compute those substrings we need also reducing memory usage
- improve on speed by using string functions instead of ereg()
(measured in a simple test that it is 1.2 times faster)

My last commit introduced a bug in not taking the original string into account (for opened link checking). This fixes the problem with taking the approach of a 'moving window'. Further performance improvements later.

Move the SQL query out to a caching function so it will not be run N times (N being the number of strings to filter). Add direct support for linking to the detailed information nodes (taxonomy page). Simulate that taxonomy page via a custom URL, since we need proper breadcrumbs, and the taxonomy module does not allow us to hook into the page display. Also done a bit of a reorganization: converted if-elseif-else statements to a switch()

Use a definition list to mark up the glossary, since it is by nature a definition list. Also add a new feature to attach nodes to the term to provide detailed background information on a term (the description only allows for a short explanation)
